The suspects' names were not released when Troy police made the announcement at 2 a.m. Saturday.
A property manager found 36-year-old Shanta Myers; her children, 11-year-old Jeremiah Myers and 5-year-old Shanise Myers; and 22-year-old Brandi Mells in a basement apartment along the Hudson River, just north of Albany on Tuesday.
Tedesco said no more arrests are expected.
"After being in this business for nearly 42 years, I can't describe the savagery of this".
A pastor says a woman and her two children among four people killed in an upstate NY basement apartment were much loved and respected in the neighborhood.
"If you know something that could help us put the monster away who did this to my sister and her lovely babies, you've got to say something". "I know that the young man involved was definitely a good person".
Myers' son, Isaiah Smith, was away when he heard what happened to his mother, brother and sister - and said he feared for his own life.More news: Oregon Appeals Court Upholds Discrimination Ruling Against Antigay Bakers

It is with great sadness that I share the news of the death of two of our students, Shanise Myers of School 14 and Jeremiah "JJ" Myers of Troy Middle School.
"It feels like somebody has ripped us to shreds", Symes told the Albany newspaper.
"It got to the point where I'd be in the bathroom and he'd be on the other side talking to me like: 'Bro what are you about to do after this?' and I'd be like, 'I don't know!'" he recalled fondly. She says she last spoke with her sister last week. She was part of the class of 2013, but did not return for her senior year, he said.
"I'm scared to go to the corner store", he told reporters, according to the Times Union.
She wrote another post later in the day, saying: Please continue to pray for our family and also for Shanta's 16 year old son who was not there when my cousins were murdered.
"Unfortunately, it's disgusting, terrible, sad - especially at this time of the year - that there's four deceased folks in there", he said.
"This will be a full-court press, if you will, until we bring someone to justice", he told reporters.
