In a statement, the Giants said: "Our agreement with the Marlins to acquire Giancarlo Stanton subject to his waiving of the no-trade clause will not move forward and it is our understanding that the Marlins and Stanton are exploring other options".
However, Stanton hasn't totally eliminated the Giants and Cardinals yet, according to Mish, but they are not his preferred destination.
The MLB offseason has been relatively quiet to this point, but that should change during baseball's winter meetings starting on this weekend, which is where much of the foundation for offseason trades and other acquisitions take place.More news: Manhattan DA says gun law passed in Congress endangers public safety

Stanton is owed $295 million over the next ten years of his massive contract including $25 million in 2018. On Thursday, the Marlins traded second baseman Dee Gordon to Seattle as the Mariners also acquired $1 million in worldwide bonus pool allocation to make what was their unsuccessful push for Ohtani.
In 2017, Stanton batted.281 with 59 homers, 132 RBIs, 123 runs, 1.007 OPS and.376 on-base percentage as he won the National League MVP Award.
The Marlins have even agreed to trades with both teams, but they would need Stanton's approval to make a trade official, and it doesn't seem he's going to make that happen (at least at the moment).
"I don't comment on speculation", Hill said.
For his career, he is batting.268 with 267 home runs and 672 RBIs.
