Huskies to play Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl

Penn State: Seventh appearance in the Fiesta Bowl, 48th bowl appearance in school history. Penn State is Arizona bound for the Fiesta Bowl.

Penn State is returning to the scene of one of its greatest all-time victories after accepting an invitation Sunday to play Washington of the Pac 12 in the Fiesta Bowl on December 30 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

Penn State will head back home to face Wisconsin. Honest thanks to the Fiesta Bowl Committee and all the volunteers for their hospitality and work to make this bowl experience possible. This will be UW's first trip to the Fiesta Bowl. Its last appearance came on January 1, 1997, in a win over Texas.

The Huskies (10-2) were ranked No. 11 in the final College Football Playoff rankings while the Nittany Lions (10-2) were No. 9.

The Nittany Lions are playing in a bowl game for the fourth consecutive year under Franklin and making their second consecutive New Year's Six bowl appearance after winning the 2016 Big Ten Championship and facing USC in the Rose Bowl.

Washington also finished the season 10-2, with their only losses coming to Arizona State and Stanford (both on the road).
