After winning a position among the top 5 contestants, Manushi was asked which profession deserved the biggest salary and why. Mother should get highest respect, " was her reply that impressed the judges.
Manushi was ecstatic and emotional when she was announced the victor from among contestants from 108 countries.
The crown on her head was placed by Miss World 2016 Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle.
The first and the second runners-up were Miss England Stephanie Hill and Miss Mexico Andrea Meza.
Chillar is the sixth Indian to win the coveted crown. Manushi took over from Priyadarshini Chatterjee to become the 54th Miss World.
Manushi Chillar, born to doctor parents from Haryana, studied at St. Thomas School in Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.
Manushi, who is still finding it hard to believe her triumph, has dedicated it to the country. "If an organisation like Miss World backs this, it could reach a different level altogether", she had said.
