Posted November 05, 2017

Kevin Spacey's once glittering career was hanging by a thread Friday, with the star reportedly under investigation for sexual assault in Britain, accused of attempting to rape a 15-year-old boy and of harassing men on the set of House of Cards. (Netflix has also canceled an upcoming Gore Vidal biopic he starred in and produced.) It means that the drama is no longer has its central character, Frank Underwood, who plays a politician manipulating his way to the Oval Office and eventually succeeding in his journey.

Media Rights Capital, the film and TV studio behind House of Cards, followed up with its own statement.

Here, a look back at everything we know so far about Spacey's growing scandal and the aftermath of his poorly received apology.

After the charges against Spacey were publicized, Netflix said it had previously planned to end House of Cards after season six. The actor wrote a lengthy post Sunday in response to Rapp's revealing Buzzfeed interview, which was published earlier that evening.

"Spacey responded to Rapp's initial allegations, saying that he didn't remember the encounter and offered an apology".

Seven other people who the network spoke to agreed the "American Beauty" made life on the set of "House of Cards" hard. "I witnessed him groping men many times in all sort of different situations".

The Old Vic theater, where Spacey served as artistic director between 2004 and 2015, distanced itself from the actor. The report accused Spacey of allegedly targeting staffers who were typically young and male with nonconsensual touching and crude comments. "He was a man in a very powerful position on the show and I was someone very low on the totem pole and on the food chain there". Since then, eight current and former House of Cards employees have come forward anonymously, alleging they experienced inappropriate sexual conduct from Spacey on the Netflix show's set.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, actor Anthony Rapp said he attended a party at Spacey's NY apartment in 1986, when he was 14.

Variety is reporting that Spacey's publicist and talent agency have also severed ties with Spacey who is now seeking treatment.
