Apple iPhone 8 Plus costs $295.44 to make, says IHS Markit

The iPhone 8 Plus fared very well on our battery test with a runtime over 11 hours, but the iPhone X should be even better. Yet, while using the iPhone 8 Plus, there was no perceivable difference in focus speed.

The KGI analyst also added that "As regards Face ID, we're now convinced that True-depth camera (3D sensing) creates a far stronger user experience than those of Apple's rivals". Since the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are not in demand as was expected, customers will undoubtedly snap up Apple's new flagship phones as soon as iPhone X pre-orders start.

Gerrit Schneemann, senior analyst for mobile handsets at HIS Markit says: "The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, and later the iPhone X, are important devices for Apple and anticipation is running high".

The 2017 iPhones are all powered by Apple's latest chip, the A11 Bionic, which includes an integrated GPU to enable machine learning capabilities.

The iPhone 8 Plus comes is priced at Rs 73,000 and 86,000 for the 64GB and 256GB variant respectively. Android manufacturers, on the other hand, have generally been racing to stuff bigger batteries into their phones. This is quite a price difference from last year's model.

Just like every year, the company released its findings on the matter, concluding that both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are more expensive to make, which explains why Apple hiked the base price by up to $50. Wireless charging is typically slower than corded charging, and requires a plastic or glass back, which can make the phones more fragile.
