The US today condemned the killing of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh, whose gunning down by unidentified assailants in Bengaluru has sparked an outrage.
Scores of journalists gathered at the Press Club of India in the national capital and demanded justice amid calls for standing up to "forces" trying to "muzzle" the voices of dissent. "It is a sad reminder of danger the journalists facing from anti progressive forces", he said. "The point is the entire ideology is to silence voices", Gandhi said. "The Congress government must investigate the matter and book the culprits soon", he said.
New Delhi:Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said "truth can not be silenced" and demanded that the culprits be tracked down and punished.

Strongly rejecting the opposition accusation, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the BJP, the government or any organisation could not be blamed for the killing.
Union Minister H.N. Ananth Kumar said it was for the Congress government in Karnataka to "seriously" probe the case and nab the culprits.
"Apart from handing over Ganapathy's case to CBI, the court commented on the investigation process of state government".
