Man caught stealing John Legend's luggage at Kennedy Airport

Security footage allegedly showed Hilario approaching the cart and pushing it away from the area before removing the bag, which contained a pair of Cartier panther head cuff links with clear and green stones valued at $25,000, and leaving the scene.

The singer caught wind of the report on Twitter (March 24) and called the story false and confirmed that he had retrieved his bag.

The 38-year-old musician was nearly left without his luggage - which is reported to have included a pair of $30,000 Cartier Panther jewel-studded cuff links and a $500 pair of sunglasses, as well as designer clothes - when it was left unattended by his greeter and an opportunistic thief tried to grab it.

Legend thanked Port Authority police and said the situation has been "handled" with a photo of Lil Rel Howery playing TSA agent Rod Williams in "Get Out". Legend had just arrived in New York City after a flight from France, according to the DA. "We use a trusted vehicle service and they did not rob me", he wrote.

The driver was identified on surveillance video and asked to come back to the airport for an interview.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's Moroccan family vacation didn't end quite like they'd hoped. The publication quoted law enforcement spokesmen who said the perpetrator was caught a short time later. The defendant also told the officer he had planned to take the bag to the lost and found, prosecutors said.

Hilario will appear at Queens County Criminal Court on Friday.

The driver, Agustin Hilario, brought the bag with him when he returned to the airport, and said he took it by mistake.

"I know I should not have taken it".
